Fit Fridays: You Need to Sit Down For This

I’ m sure some of you know this but until every basketball player and coach understands this I have to say it. One of the things all athletes in a sport like basketball have to be aware of is explosive strength. If you are really good at lifting and you become strong as an ox, but you can’t actually access that strength it is useless. One of the ways you can be sure to not only develop strength but explosive strength is to do workouts that develop explosiveness. This article by Chad Waterbury explains it in a much better way than I can. Essentially what you need to know is that simply lifting weights and attempting to max out will not lead to maximum explosion. If you are lifting to be better at your sport then explosion is what you seek.

One such exercise that can help you improve your explosiveness is the Seated Box Jump.
