How to Play Basketball Blog – Be a Beast on the Boards
Defense and rebounding are huge parts of winning games. The reason you are reading this is because you want to be a winner. If you want to win then you better go get rebounds. It is hard to win if the other team is the only one shooting right? When you work hard to make the offense take a tough shot you have to go get your reward. Everybody loves offense. So if you want a chance to play it then you have to chase your reward. Your reward was just shot by the other team and it is heading for the rim.
Now before you go chasing after the ball you want to find an offensive player and stop them from getting the ball. The best way to do this is to box them out! In order for you to get rebounds you need to be in good position. In order for you to be in good position the offensive player you are guarding needs to be on your back when the shot goes up. It is so simple! But I know that people go play pick-up and when that shot goes up they are already running to the other end for an easy bucket. Silly! Find somebody to box out and then get the rebound! The rebound is your reward. Are you in the habit of not claiming your rewards? If you are please tell me every contest you have entered so I can go get some prizes!
If you box out and then chase down rebounds you will transform. You will transform from a cherry picking fool into a beast on the boards. Next time you are on the court work on your rebounding and unleash the beast!
