How to Play Basketball Blog -Your Spot
We all have a favorite place on the court. This place is usually our favorite spot because it is the place where the basket just seems to grow to about twice it’s regular size. It seems like no matter what you do you just cannot miss from this place. It is like that spot on your couch that just forms to your body and almost whispers in your ear “welcome home”. Make sure you are going home a lot!
The best players understand that they have special places where they like the ball because they have found success there. It is your job to determine your spot on the court and go there often. For me I like to get to the middle of the court at about the free throw line. If I get there watch out. You have a place like that too. In order for you to dominate games you need to find different ways to get to this spot. The more you get to this spot the more you will score. When you start to score from a spot now you force the defense to adjust. Now you have them reacting to you and you are in control.
Now I know you want to prove that you can score in many different ways but stop and listen for a second. How does Ray Allen score? He is one of the most prolific shooters in NBA history. Now he can score in many ways but best believe he is trying to come off a screen on the baseline. How does Lebron score? He is a freight train when he goes to the basket and nobody in the world can stop him. The most prolific scorer in the NBA right now Kevin Durant loves catch and shoot on the wings. His quick release and his high release point make him virtually impossible to guard. Make them stop you from doing what you do best. Master that and then you can develop your counter.
Get to your spot and score in bunches. That is your home, would you let somebody run you out of your home? I don’t think so. Find your favorite place on the court and visit there often!
